OCD TECH AI DOS AND DON'TS

Dos and Don’ts of Using AI

June 7, 2023 Posted by OCD Tech Cybersecurity, News

Are you using AI in your business? Make sure you are doing it right with this comprehensive guide to the Dos and Don’ts of AI that OCD Team gather for you.

  • 35% of organizations have implemented AI in some form. The percentage of enterprises employing AI grew 4% than in 2021. IBM
  • Latest data shows that the market size of artificial intelligence was valued at $87.04 billion in 2021. Precedence Research, 2023.

Artificial intelligence (AI) such as OpenAI, Eden, Adobe AI, Microsoft AI or Google AI, are becoming increasingly popular in the business world, to complete or automate routine tasks but it’s important to use them correctly to avoid potential pitfalls. Here are some Dos and Don’ts to keep in mind when implementing AI in your business.

DO understand the limitations of AI.

While AI can be incredibly powerful and useful, it’s important to remember that it has limitations. AI is only as good as the data it’s trained on, and it can struggle with tasks that require human-like intuition or creativity. Additionally, AI can sometimes make mistakes or produce biased results if it’s not properly designed and tested. Make sure you understand the limitations of AI before relying on it too heavily in your business.

DO use AI to automate repetitive tasks.

One of the biggest benefits of AI is its ability to automate repetitive tasks, freeing up time for employees to focus on more complex and creative work. This can include tasks like data entry, customer service inquiries, and even some aspects of marketing and sales. By automating these tasks, businesses can increase efficiency and productivity while also reducing the risk of human error. Just make sure to properly train and test the AI system before implementing it to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.

DO NOT rely solely on AI for important decisions.

While AI can be incredibly helpful in making data-driven decisions, it’s important to remember that it’s not infallible. AI systems are only as good as the data they’re trained on, and if that data is biased or incomplete, the AI’s decisions will be as well. Additionally, AI lacks the human touch and intuition that can be crucial in certain decision-making scenarios. Always have a human oversight and review process in place to ensure that important decisions are being made with all factors considered.

DO NOT ignore the potential risks and consequences of AI.

It’s important to approach AI with caution and awareness of the potential risks and consequences. AI can be used to perpetuate biases and discrimination, and can also have unintended consequences if not properly implemented and monitored. It’s crucial to have a plan in place for addressing any negative impacts that may arise from the use of AI, and to regularly review and update that plan as needed. Additionally, it’s important to be transparent with stakeholders about the use of AI and any potential risks involved.
